Wiretapping scandal charges

Greek judicial authorities have filed charges of attempted espionage over the case of the hacking of phones belonging to 106 Vodafone subscribers, including former Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis.

While the charges filed on Friday have not been brought against any individual, evidence from the ongoing investigation allegedly links US Embassy in Athens staff members to the 2004-2005 wiretapping scandal.
