Residents rescued from Kallithea block fire
An elderly woman was dragged from a fire in an apartment block in the southern Athens suburb of Kallithea Wednesday but still suffered severe burns and had to be hospitalized.
Her rescuer, a passer-by, was one of two people who suffered breathing problems following the blaze in a basement apartment.
It was not clear what caused the fire, which led to people living in some apartments being trapped while firefighters tackled the blaze. A woman was also rescued from the fourth floor but she did not suffer any injuries.
