Municipality files suit against property tax rate
The Municipality of Filothei and Psychico in northern Athens has launched collective legal action to challenge the imposition of an emergency property tax on residents.
The tax is being applied through electricity bills but the local authority says that the Public Power Corporation has used the wrong ?zone price? for calculating the tax in this suburb.
The municipality says that residents should have been charged at 6 euros per square meter rather than 10 euros.
It has invited people who live in the area to bring photocopies of their bills to the municipality so they can be included in the legal action.
