Prison director?s car, Halandri building bombed
The director of Avlonas Prison in eatsern Attica, is believed to have been the target of arsonists, after an explosive device went off underneath his car in the early hours of Friday.
The explosion of the device, placed beneath Pavlos Douvalis?s vehicle, which was parked outside his home in the town of Halkida, caused damage to cars parked nearby, but no injuries.
Douvalis had been attacked and beaten about a year ago by unknown hooded assailants.
Meanwhile, another blast in the early hours of Friday, in the northern Athenian suburb of Halandri (photo), caused some minor damage to an apartment building after a makeshift explosive went off in the entrance to its garage.
Police cordoned off the area of the explosion on Sachtouri Street and were investigating the cause of the attack.
