2004 ticket hunt to last for 30 days

People hoping to buy tickets for the Athens 2004 Olympics will only have one month – from May 12 – to table their applications, Games organizers said yesterday. Of the 5.3 million tickets available for the Olympics, 2.3 million have already been distributed to the International Olympic Committee, national Olympic committees, sponsors, broadcasters, government and Athens 2004 Organizing Committee officials. The other 3 million tickets will be sold to the general public. For Greek citizens, especially, a special brochure will be distributed, free of charge, including an application for tickets which they must fill out and submit to Alpha Bank branches during the monthlong period ending June 12. People from the European Union and European Economic Area – the 15 EU members, plus Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway – can apply for tickets either by calling (30) 210.373.000 or via the Internet at www.athens 2004.com/tickets. If applications exceed the available tickets, a lottery will take place. People outside the EU and EEA must apply to their respective national Olympic committees.
