France arrests Cephalonia murderer
French authorities on Tuesday arrested a 24-year-old Albanian man who was wanted by Greek police on a European arrest warrant in connection with the murder of an 82-year-old woman on the Ionian island of Cephalonia in May 2010.
According to the Greek police, the 24-year-old, and an accomplice of the same age, broke into the elderly woman’s residence in the town of Argostoli last year, tying her up and gagging her as they ransacked her home for valuables. The 82-year-old died as a result of asphyxiation.
French police picked up the Albanian man in Paris on Tuesday on charges of aggravated sexual assault, when they ascertained that a Europol arrest warrant was pending against him.
