Officers claim cover-up in road rage case

Representatives of the police?s DIAS motorcycle-riding squad on Monday afternoon accused superiors in the force of attempting to shield former minister Kimon Koulouris from punishment after he was stopped late on Saturday for allegedly running red lights and then hit a policeman with his car.

They claim a senior officer took Koulouris to the Kaisariani police precinct in his own car and let him go before any members of the DIAS team could press charges. Koulouris claims the DIAS officers overreacted and that he did not hit anyone with his car.

Chief first instance prosecutor Eleni Raikou is investigating.
