Infant dies of H1N1 flu [Update]

A seven-and-a-half month Libyan baby diagnosed with the H1N1 virus died in Athens on Friday.

The infant was being treated at the intensive care unit of the Aghia Sofia children?s hospital in Athens, Skai reported on Friday. According to the medical facility?s staff the infant had been infected with the virus before entering Greece.

Originally known as swine flu, the H1N1 influenza emerged in 2009 and was declared a pandemic by June that year. By August 2010, the organization had declared the pandemic over.
