A 51-year-old Georgian national, believed to be the ringleader of a major international crime racket, was arrested at a luxury hotel in Vouliagmeni, south of Athens, on Saturday.

According to police sources, the man — who is being sought by Interpol for money laundering, attempted murder and other crimes — was apprehended in the hotel along with his 36-year-old bodyguard.

The 51-year-old, who had checked into the hotel using forged identity documents, is believed to have been leading a major crime racket operating in Spain, Germany, France, Italy and Austria in recent years.
