Accounts of Proton Bank owner frozen

A prosecutor investigating Proton Bank main shareholder Lavrentis Lavrentiadis over allegedly questionable loans of some 700 million euros made by the lender to his group of companies, on Friday ordered the businessman?s three Swiss bank accounts to be frozen, pending his trial.

Sources said the accounts are thought to contain some 165 million euros in savings.

First instance prosecutor Yiannis Dragatsis has completed his investigation into the case and is expected to level charges soon. Another 29 people have been investigated. Lavrentiadis denies any wrongdoing.
