Capital Market Commission employee arrested over alleged bribe
An employee of the Hellenic Capital Market Commission (HCMC) has been arrested on suspicion of demanding and accepting a bribe from a stock brokerage he was inspecting.
Police said they made the arrest on Monday afternoon. They have not identified the suspect but said that the suspect demanded an illicit payment of 1,500 euros when he inspected the firm.
The brokerage?s managing director informed police and a sting was set up to trap the HCMC employee, said police. He was caught accepting the money, according to officers.
More details are expected to emerge after the suspect is charged on Tuesday.
