Parmacists to stop drugs on credit over funds’ debt
Pharmacists in Attica and Piraeus on Wednesday threatened to stop providing medicines on credit to the recently formed National Organization for Healthcare Provision (EOPPY) over outstanding debts.
Several social security funds have been merged into EOPPY and pharmacists claim they were owed 300 million euros by the funds before the change. They said they would stop supplying drugs on credit as of April 1 unless the government moves to settle the bill.
There are plans to bring more social security funds under the EOPPY umbrella, which could increase the amount owed to pharmacists to 250 million euros.
