New fire in Aspropyrgos

A fire broke out in the early hours of Thursday in a warehouse area used for plastics and furniture storage in Psari, in Aspropyrgos, western Athens.

Meanwhile, fires that had previously broken out in other parts of Aspropyrgos were under control Thursday morning.

A 28-year-old firefighter died on Wednesday after suffering a fatal heart attack during one of the Aspropyrgos blazes.

According to a statement issued by the Fire Department on Thursday, 60 fires were reported in the Attica region on Wednesday, out of which 28 broke out in western Attica.

Also on Thursday, the General Secretariat for Civil Protection warned of high fire risk in Evia and Attica.
