Poll tamperer given three-year sentence

An electoral representative for the leading New Democracy party was handed a three-year jail sentence on Friday, after being found guilty of tampering with the ballot box during general elections last Sunday, Skai has reported.

The 53-year-old woman from Lamia in central Greece denied charges that she had switched ballots in order to favor her party and has filed an appeal against the sentence delivered by a Lamia court.

She was released from custody pending her appeal.
