Pharmacists meet to decide on action over unpaid drugs
Greece?s pharmacists? association is due to meet on Saturday to decide whether to continue or broaden their action in protest at the government?s tardiness in settling bills for prescription drugs.
A total of 17 regional pharmacists? associations have been refusing to supply medicines on credit to customers insured with the National Organization for Healthcare Provision (EOPYY), the country?s main healthcare provision fund.
EOPYY owes 117 million euros for prescriptions in May and another 145 million for drugs provided in June.
However, Gerasimos Voudouris, EOPYY?s president, revealed on Friday that the fund has gradually begun to pay for medicines supplied in May and will settle the bill for June by September 10.
