Corinth council votes for removal of migrants

A commission appointed by the local council of Corinth, west of Athens, on Tuesday voted for the removal of all illegal immigrants being temporarily detained at a military camp in the city.

The decision called for the camp to be handed over to the municipality and for an urgent meeting with Public Order Minister Nikos Dendias.

The development of a string of temporary detention centers for undocumented migrants has generated reaction in a number of local communities around Greece.
