Track theft suspends train service

The Hellenic Railways Organization (OSE) on Monday suspended services between Oinoi and Halkida, north of Athens, following the theft of copper cabling along the track connecting the two towns.

The incident followed a similar incident involving the theft of cabling from the section between Kinetta and Aghioi Theodoroi.

The widespread practice of stealing copper cabling from railways has resulted in millions of euros in losses for OSE.
