Number of cannabis plants seized by Greek police rises 70 percent
Some 60 billion euros’ worth of cannabis plants have been seized by police this year, the force revealed on Monday.
According to statistics released by the police, there has been a rise of about 70 percent in the number of plants being confiscated.
Just under 28,500 have been uprooted between January and November this year, compared to 16,642 during the same period in 2011.
Police said that each plant provides about half a kilo of hashish, which has a street value of around 2,000 euros.
