Greek coalition being ‘humiliated’, says SYRIZA MP after inconclusive Eurogroup

The Eurogroup’s failure to reach a decision on the release of Greece’s next loan tranche as well as on how to make Greek debt sustainable prompted the derision of Greek opposition politicians on Wednesday.

SYRIZA had been critical of the government’s strategy of agreeing to all of the troika’s demands to secure the loan tranche and its MP Dimitris Papadimoulis suggested the Eurogroup’s inconclusive meeting underlined how mistaken the coalition was.

“A new postponement,” he tweeted on Wednesday morning. “On Monday, [when the Eurogroup will meet again] they will a band aid until the German elections.

“The government is doing all their favors and is being humiliated in return.”

The leftist party, which has been leading opinion polls over the last couple of months, has said it would cancel the reforms and fiscal measures passed by the three-party coalition earlier in November as part of Greece’s effort to meet the terms of its bailout agreement.
