Minister tries to force municipalities’ hand over redundancies
In a bid to encourage the heads of municipal and state services facing streamlining to draft lists of employees to be put into a fast-track redundancy scheme, Administrative Reform Minister Antonis Manitakis said on Wednesday that those refusing to do so will have the choice of which employees go made for them.
“For the entities that do not fulfill their legal obligations, the ministry will take into account the data that has been recorded on the employees’ register,” said a circular sent out by Manitakis, referring to a census of civil servants.
The deadline for the submission of the civil servants’ data expired on Monday.
