Parliament to probe ex-IMF envoy’s claims over bailout
The case file of a preliminary investigation into claims by Panayiotis Roumeliotis, Greece’s former envoy to the International Monetary Fund, that the Greek government ignored his warnings in 2010 about the pitfalls of a troika bailout, was handed to Parliament on Thursday.
The Supreme Court decided that only the House can rule whether any former or serving politicians should face prosecution over their role in the signing of the loan agreement.
Roumeliotis argues that Greece should have pushed for a debt restructuring from the start of its program.
