Train derails near Xanthi

Heavy rain caused a train carrying 136 passengers to derail in Polisitos, in the prefecture of Xanthi, northern Greece, on Friday morning. The train was servicing the Alexandroupoli-Thessaliniki route.

According to the Hellenic Railways Organization (OSE) no injuried were reported, while all passengers were expected to travel to Thessaloniki by bus later in the day.
