Police make one arrest in Nea Erythraia robbery

Police arrested a 26-year-old Albanian national on Saturday in the rural area of Kryoneri, northern Attica, and were seeking another three, in connection to an armed robbery in Nea Erythraia, northern Athens, early on Friday.

According to reports, the suspect was carrying a Kalashnikov assault rifle allegedly used during the robbery and an ensuing exchange of fire with the police.

On Friday, four suspects broke into a residence in Nea Erythraia before fleeing in a car and subsequently hijacking the car of journalist Makis Triantafyllopoulos.

The vehicle was later found in a riverbed in Kryoneri.
