Farmers to review action

Representatives of the 34 roadside blockades that farmers have set up around the country are due to meet in Larissa, central Greece, on Thursday to decide on how to continue their protests over taxation and a range of other issues.

Alternate Agricultural Development Minister Maximos Harakopoulos is also due to meet Thursday with farmers from Ileia, the Peloponnese, and Serres, northern Greece. Democratic Left leader Fotis Kouvelis has also agreed to hold talks with farmers Thursday.

Farmers at the Nikaia junction of the Athens-Thessaloniki national road in central Greece blocked the highway for about two hours Wednesday.
