Parliament employee in freak accident
A Parliamentary employeee had a close shave on Friday after accidentally stepping through a window in the roof of the House while trying to mop up rainwater that had gathered in the vault and was leaking into the MPs’ benches.
The employee was left dangling above the parliamentary chamber for several minutes before a policeman at the scene rescued her. She sustained a minor injury to one arm, as did the police officer.
Parliamentary sources said there had been no violation of safety regulations as the woman had been wearing a harness.
