Police looking for dismembered body after killer confesses

Police in the town of Arta in northwestern Greece were on Wednesday looking for the dismembered body of a man after his killer confessed to scattering it in a river.

The 48-year-old unnamed victim was reported to have gone missing on February 11 by his mother in Filipiada in nearby Preveza, prompting police to launch an investigation into his whereabouts.

During the course of the investigation, officers questioned a 36-year-old man who in the early hours of Wednesday confessed to having killed the missing man and dismembering him, scattering his body parts in the Arachthos River.

The killer claimed to have had “personal differences” with the victim. No further details were released as search teams scoured the river for the victim’s remains.
