German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder gestures during a joint news conference with Prime Minister Costas Simitis following their meeting in Berlin yesterday. Talks focused on the forthcoming, June 20-21 EU summit at the Porto Carras resort in Halkidiki, the draft EU constitution, as well as international affairs and EU defense and foreign policy. Schroeder praised Athens for its ‘first-class’ handling of the rotating EU presidency.
