Athens mayor sues Golden Dawn MP who threatened him
Athens Mayor Giorgos Kaminis filed a suit against Golden Dawn MP Giorgos Germenis on Wednesday in connection to an incident last week when the parliamentarian attempted to confront the municipality chief after he prevented the far-right party from handing out food in Syntagma Square.
According to Kaminis’s suit, Germenis attempted to hit the mayor and ended up striking a 12-year-old girl instead.
Kaminis also makes reference to the fact that the MP was armed and that he put his hand on his weapon when two of Kaminis’s security guards attempted to move him away from the scene.
Kaminis also alleges that Germenis shouted, “I am an MP, you cannot arrest me. I will sue you,” as the mayor’s bodyguards escorted him out of the building.
