Police arrest 11 for debts to state
Eleven people were arrested in Athens on Thursday and Friday for debts to the state, police said. Ten of the arrests related to debts of between 65,000 euros and 5.6 million euros.
These included the 51-year-old sister of fashion designer Lakis Gavalas. Nota Gavala was arrested for unpaid debts of 1.5 million euros but was released after giving a deposition.
A civil engineer who had first been arrested in February 2012 was taken into custody for debts amount to 72.9 million euros.
