Tender for Athens mosque to be repeated

A tender for the construction of Athens’s first official mosque is set to be repeated in 10-15 days after the first invitation of interest launched on Tuesday failed to attract any bidders, the Infrastructure Ministry said on Wednesday.

The new mosque will be located on the premises of a former naval base in the central Athens district of Votanikos. It will have an area of just over 1,000 square meters and the capacity to accommodate 300 people in the men’s area and 50 people in the women’s area. It will not have a minaret.

The budget for the project has been set at 950,000 euros.
