Minister takes action against wayward employees
Interior Minister Yiannis Michelakis on Wednesday launched disciplinary proceedings against nine employees in his department.
Six are accused of being absent from work for long periods of time with no justification.
Another three are accused of breaking the employees’ code of conduct.
The most emphatic case of alleged breach of the employment code concerns a ministry employee who is said to have failed to appear for work between January 2011 and March 2013, during which time he served as the head of a municipal organization.
