School guards take part in Interior Ministry sit-in

School guards from across the country were participating in a sit-in at the Ministry of Interior located on Klafthmonos Square in central Athens on Wednedsay.

Over 2,200 school guards were included in the first wave of about 4,400 civil servants who were transferred to other positions in the public sector recently as part of a mobility scheme.

School guards participating in Wednesday’s sit-in said that they were also claiming unpaid wages.

A rally scheduled to take place outside the Ministry of Administrative Reform on Wednesday morning was expected to bring together school guards, minicipal police officers and members of the municipal workers’ union.
