Three arrested for illegal gun trading

Two soldiers serving in Attica and a 50-year-old civilian have been arrested on suspicion of illegally trading weapons that may have been stolen from the armed forces, police said on Saturday.

The two soldiers taken into custody are both aged 41. One is a second lieutenant and the other a sergeant major. They were arrested after raids on premises in Athens and Karditsa, central Greece.

Officers recovered numerous stolen items, include gun magazines, rifle parts and booklets on gun maintenance. The three suspects have been charged with stealing army property and breaking gun laws.
