Doctors at Greek state hospitals to stage 3-day strike from Sept 17

State hospital services are to be disrupted from September 17 through 19 following a decision by the union representing hospital doctors, known by its acronym OENGE, to call a three-day strike to protest cutbacks in the health sector imposed as part of Greece’s commitments to its international creditors.

The walkout is timed to start a day before a 24-hour strike by the civil servants’ union, ADEDY, which is being organized to protest an overhaul of the public sector – including layoffs and compulsory transfers.
