Civil servants to lose extra leave for computer use, says minister

Administrative Reform Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis says he is scrapping a benefit for civil servants that allowed them to claim six days extra leave per year for using computers.

Speaking on Skai TV on Thursday night, said that the working hours saved by getting rid of the measure would be the equivalent of hiring an extra 5,000 public sector workers.

Mitsotakis also insisted that the government would meet its target of placing 12,500 civil servants in a mobility scheme by the end of the year despite the indications that Greece will struggle to meet the target set by its lenders.

It is just one of several milestones that have to be met for Athens to receive in October another 1-billion-euro bailout tranche.
