Athens court complex evacuated after bomb threat

Athens’s main court complex on Evelpidon Street in the central district of Gyzi has been evacuated after an anonymous caller warned that an explosive device had been placed in the building and was on a 45-minute timer.

The unidentified person called two national media outlets shortly after 9 a.m. on Friday claiming that a bomb was scheduled to go off 45 minutes after the call at the sprawling court complex.

Promptly after being informed of the telephone call, authorities ordered the entire complex to be evacuated, while police bomb squads investigate the claim.
