Iranian national arrested for human trafficking in Thessaloniki
A 66-year-old Iranian national was arrested in Thessaloniki on Monday on charges of human trafficking, after officers discovered 11 Afghans, a number of whom did not possess legal documents, on the back of his truck. Another five suspects were being sought by police in the same case.
According to reports, the six-member criminal gang was planning to smuggle the immigrants to Italy and collect 3,000 euros for each migrant from their respective families.
Meanwhile, two Syrian nationals, aged 33 and 34, were arrested in Evros, northeastern Greece, on Monday for attempting to smuggle seven illegal migrants.
