Depositions by Golden Dawn deputies continue
Depositions by four Golden Dawn lawmakers began on Tuesday and continued throughout the night following their weekend arrests on charges of heading a criminal organization responsible for a range of felonies, including murder, assault, blackmail and money laundering.
A decision on whether party spokesman Ilias Kasidiaris, Ilias Panayiotaros, Nikos Michos and Yiannis Lagos would be remanded in custody following their appearance in court was expected on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the chief of the ultranationalist party, Nikos Michaloliakos and his number two, Christos Pappas, were expected to appear in court on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively. Both faced the same charges as their fellow Golden Dawn MPs.
According to sources, Kasidiaris, whose deposition ended late on Tuesday, denied all charges against him and argued that his and his fellow Golden Dawn deputies’ arrests had been unconstitutional. He also argued that all charges against him and other Golden Dawn officials were politically motivated.
