One arrested, over 20 detained in Patra clashes at November 17 rally

One person was arrested and at least 20 more detained in Patra on Sunday night, when a march to mark the 1973 uprising against the junta turned violent.

A 29-year-old man was arrested when some protesters clashed with riot police near the headquarters of neofascist Golden Dawn. Nobody was injured but a bank branch and an electrical goods store were damaged.

The rally in Athens marking the student revolt 40 years ago passed off peacefully, although police did make 99 detentions before the march as a precautionary measure.
