Heavy showers hit Athens
Heavy showers hit several parts of Athens, especially in the city’s north, on Wednesday morning.
According to local meteorologists, heavy rainfall was due to the arrival of fading cyclone Cleopatra which had previously sweeped through Italy. Showers were expected to subside before noon on Wednesday.
Traffic was interrupted on Syngrou Avenue and Pireos Street early in the day but was later restored.
Eighteen people died on the Italian island of Sardinia as a result of cyclone Cleopatra earlier this week.
