Trial of fashion entrepreneur for debts to state put off to Oct. 2014

The trial of fashion entrepreneur and designer Lakis Gavalas in connection to unpaid debts to the state in the region of 700,000 euros was postponed on Friday until October 27 next year.

The outstanding debts relate to taxes on properties belong to Gavalas, according to sources.

Gavalas faced a magistrate on Friday following his sixth arrest on charges of debts to the state on Thursday.

In total, the businessman’s debts are estimated at 17 million euros and he has offered to hand over the premises of his company headquarters in Kantza in northern Attica, which are worth an estimated 33 million euros, to cover those dues.

Over the past year, Greek courts have handed him two suspended prison terms in connection with separate debts.
