Trial over 2010 Marfin arson attack postponed until May 14

The trial of two suspects charged in connection with the deadly 2010 arson attacks on a branch of Marfin Bank and a bookstore in central Athens on Monday was delayed until May 14 next year, after one of the lawyers in the case was unable to attend.

One suspect has been charged with causing the fire at the bank during a protest rally in May 2010 that caused three bank employees, including a pregnant woman, to die of asphyxiation.

A second suspect is accused of trying to set the nearby Ianos bookstore on fire. The suspects have denied the charges.
