Corruption prosecutors take deposition from Kontominas in hospital

The special prosecutors investigating allegations that the state-run Hellenic Postbank (TT) granted millions of euros in suspect loans to entrepreneurs without guarantees on Tuesday took the deposition of one of the key suspects, Dimitris Kontominas, at a private clinic in Athens where he is undergoing treatment.

Giorgos Andreadis and Popi Papandreou questioned Kontominas – owner of Alpha TV channel and the Interamerican insurance company – in regard to allegations that he received 110 million euros in unsecured loans from TT.

According to sources, Kontominas had prepared a written deposition.

Andreadis and Papandreou were expected to convene later on Tuesday to decide on the fate of the businessman, who was placed under arrest on Thursday and is currently under police guard at the private Athens clinic.
