Two killed in Peloponnese highway crash

A man and a woman, whose identities were not made public, were killed on Wednesday in a crash on the Patra-Pyros highway in the northwestern Peloponnese.

The accident occurred shortly before 2 p.m. when a truck heading toward Pyrgos strayed into the opposite lane and crashed into the victims’ car.

The driver and passenger of the vehicle were killed instantly.

According to local media site Patras Times, the driver of the truck told investigators that he had been trying to avoid hitting a car that was veering dangerously in front of him when he drove into the oncoming lane.
