Golden Dawn spokesman sues magistrates over decision to remand fellow MPs

The spokesman of the neofascist Golden Dawn, Ilias Kasidiaris, has taken legal action against the two investigating magistrates handling a probe into whether the party operated as a criminal organization, it emerged on Friday.

Kasidiaris sued Ioanna Klappa and Maria Dimitropoulou, as well as a prosecutor Isidoros Dogiakos, for breach of duty. The Golden Dawn spokesman, who himself is on conditional release pending trial on criminal charges, claims that the decision last week to remand in custody three of his fellow MPs had been decided on before the lawmakers testified. According to Kasidiaris’ claim, the orders for Giorgos Germenis, Panagiotis Iliopoulos and Stathis Boukouras to be remanded in custody bear the date January 9 while the MPs did not face a magistrate until January 11 and 12.

According to judicial sources, the discrepancy with the dates was a lapse that occurred due to the fatigue of the magistrates working the case.
