EOPYY doctors extend strike action to February 7
Doctors working for Greece’s biggest healthcare provider, EOPYY, decided on Wednesday to extend their ongoing strike action to February 7. They demand that the government withdraws a bill for the overhaul of the country’s National Healthcare System (ESY).
The union representing EOPYY doctors are protesting a decision by the Health Ministry that prohibits doctors working for the state from conducting private consultations and operating private clinics, among other changes.
Meanwhile, doctors working at state hospitals were expected to stage a four-hour stoppage from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday.
