Power workers protest sell-off plans

Workers at Greece’s Public Power Corporation (PPC) on Tuesday held a protest rally in front of the state-owned Independent Power Transmission Operator (ADMIE) Athens headquarters to protest its planned privatization.

The protesters formed a blockade in front of the premises on the national highway at the Aghios Stefanos junction, north of Athens.

PPC workers at the Megalopoli plant in the Peloponnese will also be starting rolling strikes on Tuesday to protest a draft bill that is being debated in Parliament for the privatization of the country’s power market.
