US Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland expected Athens

Greek Foreign Minister Evangelos Venizelos will meet with US Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland in Athens on Monday, Washington has announced.

Nuland will be accompanying Secretary of State John Kerry on a visit to Germany but will then head off on her own for talks in Greece, Cyprus, Czech Republic and Ukraine.

In Athens, Nuland will “meet with senior Greek Government officials, business leaders and civil society to discuss bilateral and global issues, including economic growth, entrepreneurship, and the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership,” according to the State Department.

“In Nicosia, Cyprus, on February 4, Assistant Secretary Nuland will meet with officials of the Cypriot Government to discuss initiatives to further develop and enhance US-Cypriot relations. She will also meet with Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot leaders to convey American support for accelerating progress toward a fair and lasting settlement of the Cyprus problem through the process facilitated by the UN Secretary General’s Good Offices Mission,” Washington added.

Her visit to Athens comes in the wake of talks between Venizelos and Kerry in Washington on January 17.
