Ex-PM Karamanlis urges voters to support ND for stability

Former Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis on Wednesday urged voters to back New Democracy in Sunday’s local and European Parliament elections.

The ex-premier and New Democracy chief noted that the party’s strength would safeguard “the country’s necessary political stability.”

Karamanlis stepped down as party chief in October 2009 after suffering a landslide defeat in parliamentary elections. He has since stayed out of the public eye, making few statements.
