Traffic restrictions in downtown Athens to be lifted on Friday

A measure aimed at reducing traffic in downtown Athens, whereby cars with license plates ending in an odd number can enter the designated area on odd days and cars with even numbers on even days, will be lifted on Friday, July 11.

According to an announcement by the Traffic Police on Tuesday, all vehicles except large trucks will be free to circulate in the city center from Friday through the end of August as car numbers become reduced due to the start of the summer holidays.

The ring, known as “daktylios” in Greek and marked by the signpost seen in the photograph, comprises the area between the following streets: Alexandras, Zacharof, Mesogeion, Feidipidou, Michalakopoulou, Spyrou Mercouri, Vryaxidos, Ymittou, Ilia Iliou, Frantzi, Syngrou, Hamosternas, Pireos, Iera Odos, Constantinoupoleos, Achilleos, Karaiskaki Square, Karolou, Marni and Patission, where it meets up with Alexandras.
